Prayer garden

Yesterday, while waiting for the start of our haiku meeting, Southern California Haiku Study Group (SCHSG) in Pasadena's Pacific Asia Museum, I wandered near a theological school. Nearby, I saw a prayer garden, so labeled, that was closed to the public. I went closer and peered through the gated place. It had a man-made waterfall and lots of small trees and shrubs. Serenity and peace exude from the place. After looking a bit I sat down on a concrete bench nearby and wrote this poem.

prayer garden
the answered ones
are blooming

Actually, this is not the one I read at our usual sharing at the beginning of each meeting, but an earlier version.

prayer garden
how many unanswered ones
are left there

Thank you Joan! I am kind of an ambivalent person, I mean I see two sides of everything sort of like the ying and yang, the positive and the negative, the ugly and the beautiful, the dark and bright side of things... and I can relate to either one having amply experienced both.

Yes.. I have thought about the second and like it too. Unanswered prayers. Buds maybe.
i love the short sharpness of haiku, especailly when there is a surprise. Well done.

I think I am an ambivalent person too. I tend to see two sides of of everything..which annoys some people. I remember once at work not taking sides of a problem and was accused of being a fence-sitter. A friend said "Fence-sitter or peace-maker?" I preferred the latter I must say! But I often cannot understand why people get so upset when there are two sides to most things.

I had a misspelling in my comment which I deleted. Here it is.
I too am a peace-maker. This year my new year's resolution is to make at least one person smile everyday. And I do it everywhere - you should see their surprise yet pleasant reactions. It can be contagious too, try it and see what I mean.
