Marcus Aurelius writes that we all end up as ashes or spices. Presumably the ancient Romans sprinkled the stuff in the cooking pots for flavouring. But what's amazing is that he speaks eloquently in his Meditations of things that we today might think of as advanced physics.

My original poem refers to dust rather than ashes - dust we are to dust we shall return - but reworded it to fit into a form, but you get the idea...
